War is not the answer.

Indonesia is on my mind today. What is going on in this country? Why does it matter? They have the largest population of Muslims in the world. What is it that can make that country very happy, very prosperous and very safe?

Could it be for me to not drive anywhere today? Could it be for me to send money? Could it be for me to go there when people around me are not a lot better off perhaps than the people of Indonesia--unless it is soon after a catastrophe. It has been 6 years almost since 9/11, and we only lost 3,000+ people. It has been more than 2 years, but Indonesia has lost what, 250,000 with the mud volcano, volcanos, tsunamis, earthquakes, ferry disasters, airplane crashes, and storms.

Of course, we have car accidents and domestic violence. We have so much violence, and then there is war. We are losing people in war. This is why it is important to help Indonesia during catastrophes. Not just for the immediate humanity of helping, but to fill a vacuum with caring so that so much frustration from the sadness and grief becomes violence.

If we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem. Here in Georgia, I am choosing not to drive. I am saving money so that I can do better things with my money than see movies and travel 10 miles for what? The energy I am saving today will help global warming enough that it will turn the tide and we all get back on track with normal weather?

I haven't gone the way of adding advertising. What does the public feel about advertising? Should I advertise and bring money into this? Perhaps I could give the money to the people in Indonesia who really need it?

Bookcrossings.com is a great way to connect. Sure you can give or sell books, but to connect with someone who might take your book to Sri Lanka, or Canada or across town is fun as all get out!

Ripple effect! The first book I put on Bookcrossings.com was I was an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins. He has another book out. I first saw him on C-Spann, and one of the points in this book was the great improvements Indonesia had with roadways, energy systems/grids, and economics because of the US and big corporations. I also found that because of the way things were set up, the country will never be out of enough debt to those corporations to do right by the poor, and only a few reaped benefits and became filthy rich and also got political sway/power. I look forward to the next book recently published by John Perkins.

A small gesture makes big impact.

Live Earth will make a difference only if we stop wasting so many resources and consider our resources as dear. Some people think that the garbage and the waste we have in this world don't make much impact. But really it does make an impact with each small thing we do.

If there is less ice, where will the excess water go? Indonesia probably thinks it is there already!

Someone in Indonesia may think that the excess water is there. When people buy lightbulbs that last 8 years, they need to write somewhere that when they dispose of the lightbulbs to remember they have mercury and do nto need to go in the garbage. Recycle!
